The goal of the Joetta Di Bella and Fred C. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication is to provide the SCM Community access to data driven and consumer insights technology that is prevalent in public relations, journalism, sports communication, social media and advertising, and to better prepare our students for jobs in these fields. The Center will allow SCM to become a leader in providing training in these areas and highlight what makes the School unique and stand out in a crowded marketplace.
The technology and software in the Center includes social media listening and publishing platforms, content creation apps, consumer insights tools, and access to influencer marketing software. These tools will fuel faculty research projects, co-curricular activity, classroom learning, and be a vehicle for live events.
This mission statement also reflects Montclair State University’s Mission Statement, which in part reads, “The University will serve as a center for the creation of new knowledge and for the development of innovative applications of existing knowledge and as a center for pedagogical and artistic excellence and creativity. The University seeks to focus the professional activities of its faculty and the educational endeavors of its students on the enduring disciplines that will continue to constitute the knowledge base of an educated citizenry in the 21st century, as well as on the more specific and changing areas of study that have particular relevance to the region served by the University.”
